For Grade 2 we used pictures taken around the school as backgrounds. Then the students were able to select a background for the panel and add in their comic characters (Binky and friends). Finally they were able to add the narration and speech bubbles. Once they'd got the hang of click and drag, as well as undo, they were fairly independent and able to create some fun scenes.

The interesting thing with Comic Life is that there is no content provided - it has to be self generated. As the Grade 1 classes research the author/illustrator Melanie Watt it was suggested that we base a project around this unit of study. We used 2Paint a picture to draw Scaredy Squirrel and Chester the Cat (as well as other featured characters!) and then imported them into Comic Life. Some students even addressed the author or provided off-screen speech bubbles! The French Dept. bought Comic Life, and the Grade 6 classes were given the assignment of making comics using either clipart or their own pictures. Some of the finished work was very well presented. I need to find out how to produce the accents and let the students know beforehand.
